Every morning as I feel myself slowly come back to my body from far away dreamscapes and mystical adventures, I wait.
I wait to open my eyes to the new day spreading out before me. I wait, because I know that once my eyes open and regain their worldly focus, my mind will begin her well-meaning hum.
She will start me off on my day with her organized ways, reminding me of plans I have made, commitments to be kept, and reminding me of a grand assortment of people, animals and things that need to be tended to. I appreciate her, my mind, because she helps me navigate certain necessities in my earthly existence and mostly because she has learned to share the space of my life with the rest of me–my body, my feelings, and my soul. We have a pretty good relationship these days, but still, I wait to open my eyes to her.
Nestled in the warmth of crinkled covers and in the stillness of my resting form, I have a simple morning practice that I am ready to begin. With the colors fading from my dreams, my eyes closed, and my mind silent, I begin my day.
Here in the quiet, I begin my day with “Yes.”
There is a lot behind this simple and affirmative word….
Yes welcomes my day like a most generous host, and she invites me in through wide open doors.
Yes is gentle, and speaks to all my dreams, hopes and desires that begin to come into focus as I start my day.
Yes knows there is enough time—even an infinite amount of time—to get it all done.
Yes invokes timeless Trust in the Universe, allowing circumstances and events to unfold.
Yes is invigorated by difficult challenges. There is nothing that can stop her as she invites in solutions.
Yes knows that it will all work out in the end. Yes, she really know this.
Yes expands my thoughts and ideas. You are always evolving in many ways, she reminds me! She opens me up to endless possibilities.
Yes brings gratitude for all the unknowns and unexpecteds that are sure to show up in my day. Yes, I am grateful for all mysteries that the day will bring.
Yes loves all people and circumstances that cross her path, because she looks forward to their gifts.
Yes instills hope because she knows there is no problem that can’t be solved.
Yes embraces life in all the ways that it shows up in our many human adventures.
Ah yes, Thank you, Yes. Now I open my eyes.
Who knew that a single Yes could transform an entire day, an entire life?!
There is so much behind the simple practice of beginning your day with Yes.
So, give it a try, and see how your day shows up, when you begin it with a simple, “Yes.”

Sherri Gomes says:
If only more people could start their day with a positive outlook, things might seem a little easier to deal with. I like the thought of yes. I am always saying “everything happens for a reason” and “things always work out”. Some times I need to remind myself of that!
