Dream Come True

Hello Friends,

I want to tell you about a dream that came true.

I am happy and humbled to announce that my first book, Brave and Awake—A Story of Authentic Becoming has just been published and is now available for your reading pleasure!
Brave and Awake is partly my story, but mostly it’s about what happens when we have the courage to follow our heart and live our authentic personal journey.

While the book itself is “hot off the presses,” the dream of writing a book goes waaaaaay back, decades and decades.

If you have been following this blog, you know that when I was ten, I knew I wanted to write a book. I did not know what I wanted to write about, and I did not know why I wanted to write it. But I didn’t question that. Ten year olds have much more pressing things to attend to like hide-and-go-seek, bike races around the block, and freeze-tag rather than trying to figure out inner yearnings and dreams. I only knew it was there, that spark of a dream, somewhere inside me.

That dream which originated in childhood life got put on hold and even forgotten in later years, when other dreams made their way into my consciousness and experience. But much to my surprise, the dream re-emerged on my birthday a few years ago, as I was on my way to the fire station where I work. As I was driving, I had an overwhelming feeling come over me, and I knew it was time to write the book.

Like my path to becoming a firefighter (Chapter 3 – Anything Is Possible in Brave and Awake), once the book dream re-appeared in my adult life, things came to me serendipitously and seemingly out of the blue.

I met writers who became mentors, and authors who encouraged me and gave me advice. I heard about an artists’ immersion program—a yearlong commitment for artists to pursue and produce their individual passions. It took courage to even think of myself as an artist, but I signed up. In that year as I delved into creative outer realms, I found myself exploring my inner terrain as well.

As inner transformations have given way to outer manifestations, Brave and Awake, the book, has arrived as a dream come true and a journey I will always remember.

It takes courage to play in this human game.
It takes courage to listen to the quiet voice of your heart, with all the distractions and outside noise the world offers.
It takes courage to live your authentic personal story.

But once you move consciously, with awareness, through your days, you will be on the adventurous path of your own authentic journey.

And then, you will be amazed at the wonder of the life you are living.

Yes, dreams do come true.
